Beginning Quilting Class 5 - Machine Binding

We'll cover the basics of how to bind your quilt and get some hands-on practice.

We'll be hands-on with the basics, so be sure you have a small project ready for binding...a table runner, table topper, placemat, or baby quilt is perfect. Anything larger is difficult for your first try (and you may not get it completed in class) and anything smaller than a placemat is not the easiest for beginners to learn my joining technique.

Get your quilt projects finished! Come to class with your quilted project. We will discuss squaring your top, preparing straight binding strips, and attaching them by machine. I will also show how to join the ends for an invisible finish.

We will discuss other options, but I will only demonstrate the method I use. Mastering machine binding means I never have quilted tops languishing in my studio. Once they are quilted, binding is fast and easy. 

We'll also talk about ways to make your bindings more interesting including Faux Flange techniques, adding trims, Prarie Points, and more.

Before signing up for class, please check your schedule and read our class policy carefully. To be fair to our teachers and other students we must remain firm on our registration and cancellation policies 

• For any class where the fee is more than $100, 50% is due when you sign up. The other 50% of the fee is due 60 days before the class begins. To sign up with a deposit only, please call or stop by the store; we can only process full payment enrollments on the website. 

• If you need to cancel more than 60 days before the start of class, any fees paid are refundable except for an administrative fee of 10%. If it is less than 60 days, the fee (less the admin fee) can be refunded as store credit only if your space in class can be filled.

• Classes, where the fee is less than $100, must be paid in full when you sign up for class. Cancellations must be made at least 7 days before class and you will be issued store credit.

• If you cancel when there are less than 7 days before the class, no refund or store credit will be given. No exceptions. 

• No credit or refund will be given for a "no-show".

• Our guest teachers reserve the right to cancel 48 hours before any class if the participation level is below any stated minimum.

• We will issue a full refund for any class we fully cancel. We will reschedule classes as quickly as possible, rescheduled classes are not subject to a refund, if you cannot attend the new dates you will receive a store credit. 

• Your registration in class implies your agreement to adhere to all the above-stated cancellation and refund policies.
  

• Your registration in class implies your agreement to adhere to our current mask policy. No refunds will be given if you choose not to attend class based on any expectation of a relaxed mask policy.
  

• In the event of inclement weather, classes could have a delayed start time or be rescheduled for another day. If we are experiencing snow and icy conditions please check social media including Facebook and Instagram. This will be the quickest way to receive updates as the stores might not be open if road conditions are too dangerous for staff to get to the store to call or email you.
